Building beekeepers. Growing a community.

One of the most important parts of the Healing Hive Initiative is the community we are building around our beekeepers.

Beekeeping has good years and difficult years. One colony may be thriving while another is struggling. One beekeeper may have an abundance of resources while another needs a little help.

That's where community makes a difference.

As part of the Healing Hive Initiative, our beekeepers can work together and share resources when appropriate. If one colony is struggling while another is thriving, our mentors and beekeeping community can help evaluate the situation and determine what resources may be safely shared to give that colony a better chance of succeeding.

Instead of every beekeeper having to do everything alone, we succeed together.

That philosophy continues when it's time to harvest honey.

Honey extractors, uncapping equipment, bottling equipment, and other processing tools can represent a significant investment for a new beekeeper. We don't believe someone should have to purchase thousands of dollars' worth of equipment just to enjoy the honey their bees worked so hard to produce.

Through our shared community resources, Healing Hive Initiative participants will have access to assistance with honey extraction, processing, and bottling. We'll help teach participants how to take their honey from the hive to the bottle while providing access to equipment they otherwise might not be able to afford.

This creates something bigger than a collection of individual backyard hives.

We're building a network of beekeepers who learn together, share resources, celebrate successful colonies, help when another hive is struggling, and eventually pass that knowledge and generosity on to someone else.

We are now accepting applications from individuals and families interested in participating in the 2027 Healing Hive Initiative.

Our Board will review applications and make selections for the 2027 program in January 2027.

You don't need to already know how to keep bees. You just need a willingness to learn, participate, care for your colony, and become part of a community that helps one another.

Every hive, colony, bee suit, tool, extractor, and piece of shared equipment we provide is made possible through people and businesses who believe in what we're building.

Your donation can help turn an empty spot in someone's backyard into their first apiary.

Your support also helps us build the shared resources that allow our beekeepers to succeed without every participant having to purchase expensive equipment individually.
